Ring Video Doorbell review

See who's at your door wherever you are.

  • As soon as a visitor hits the button, a blue light races around the circumference of the button, and the doorbell emits a loud chime sound.

  • The Ring camera has a wide field of view, and captures in 720p. As you can see, video quality isn’t great. But we’re not shooting Hollywood movies here.

  • When pairing Ring to your phone, make sure you do so at the exact location where the doorbell will be installed. This ensures you’ll tether to the strongest WiFi signal if you’re using an extender.

  • The Chime accessory provides an audible chime sound that works independently of your smartphone. You can adjust the hardware’s volume in Ring’s app.

  • It’s important to fine-tune motion-detection zones, as this feature is very sensitive.

  • Ring says they’ll replace stolen doorbells free of charge. Sounds good to me — as this review unit is affixed with double-sided tape.
