It’s easy to protect yourself from ransomware – if you plan ahead

Ransomware has rapidly evolved from being a novel, isolated threat into the biggest malware scourge facing most businesses today. Reports of infections are rife throughout Australian businesses as increasingly sophisticated attacks leverage ransomware-as-a-service offerings to target payloads via email, mobile apps, and even SMS.

One recent survey suggested that 22 percent of Australian SMBs had been forced to close their doors after being paralysed by ransomware. Some victims of this year’s WannaCry attacks are chalking up hundreds of millions of dollars in damages and business interruption.

The good news is: ransomware is manageable if you take the right precautions to protect your users, your network, and yourself. For companies that take the right steps, ransomware is becoming more of a nuisance than a showstopper. But you need to act now – before your users click on the wrong link, or load the wrong app.

Please join CSO Australia, Sophos, and industry experts to talk through the best steps for protection against ransomware. Through a series of interactive presentations, you will hear strategies for building a ransomware defence that will detect infections early and isolate damage before it becomes endemic. You’ll be able to ask questions of technical experts and help design a prevention and response plan to keep your network safe.

By the end of the session, you will have learned:

  • Why ransomware has become so effective and how it is continuing to evolve
  • The hidden risks of ransomware that can wreak havoc on your business even if you pay the ransom
  • How to spot an infection and shut it down before it damages your data or network
  • What defences can stop ransomware getting into your network in the first place
  • How to recover from a ransomware infection to get your business back up and running ASAP
