ACS appoints Jennifer George as Bay City Labs’ Head of Growth

ACS, the professional association for Australia’s technology sector, has appointed Jennifer George as Head of Growth for Bay City Labs.

Bay City Labs is the Melbourne arm of the ACS network of scale up and innovation labs which includes Sydney’s Harbour City Labs and Brisbane’s River City Labs along with Startup Catalyst and the RCL Accelerator program.

In her new role, Jennifer will be responsible for overseeing the growth and commercialisation of the Melbourne Docklands based facility, developing partnerships with universities, business and government agencies along with assisting the labs’ residents with their go-to-market strategies.

“The commitment of ACS to creating career growth opportunities for ICT talent, especially in emerging areas of AI and cyber offers Bay City Lab a unique opportunity,” Jennifer said of her appointment.

“Not only can we accelerate B2B start-ups at our state-of-the-art facilities, but we can also create a beneficial ecosystem of partnerships across industry, governments, SME’s and academia that will truly ensure their growth… this is a great opportunity”

Jennifer joins ACS from her consulting business, Strategic Commercialisation Australia. Before launching her own venture, she held business development roles with the University of Melbourne and UniQuest, the University of Queensland’s commercialisation arm.

Prior to her 2014 return to Australia to take the UniQuest role, Jennifer spent a decade in the United States where she held senior institutional investment positions in California and the US east coast before establishing her own New York based innovation consultancy specialising in commercialising renewable and sustainable technologies.

Siobhan Casey, Director of ACS’ Scale-Ups and Innovation Labs, added: “Bay City Labs is an amazing greenfield location and in Jennifer, we have secured a dynamic, senior executive with a proven record in commercialisation, including hands-on experience building several new companies.

“I am looking forward to working with Jennifer and onboarding new resident scaleups to Bay City Labs”.

Jennifer has an MBA from UQ, she is a graduate of AICD and sits on the Standards Australia advisory panel for Smart Cities.
