San Jose, Calif. – Nov. 19, 2018 – Cohesity, the leader of hyperconverged secondary storage, today announced it has again been recognised as a 2018 Gartner Peer Insights Customer’s Choice for Data Centre Backup and Recovery Solutions. For the second consecutive time this year, Cohesity earned high marks — an average rating of 4.8 out of 5— for its secondary data solution in reviews from customers across a wide range of industries, including education, finance, government, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and transportation. Cohesity is the only vendor to have received a 4.8 rating in the February and November 2018 Gartner Peer Insights Customer’s Choice for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions.
“Our north star has always been ensuring the success of our customers. With that in mind, we not only want to provide exceptional backup and recovery solutions but also want to help customers extract maximum value from their data,” said Lynn Lucas, CMO, Cohesity. “We believe this recognition is a testament to the fact that we are successfully executing against our mission by delivering an easy-to-use, web-scale platform for secondary data and applications that also empowers customers to remove data silos and directly address the challenges of mass data fragmentation.”
Cohesity scored very well, with a rating of 4.7 or higher, in the following key areas: “product capabilities,” “integration and deployment,” and “service and support.” Cohesity also scored among the highest of all vendors in terms of customers "willingness to recommend.”
Gartner defines the data centre backup and recovery software market as being focused on providing backup capabilities for the upper-end midmarket and large-enterprise environments. To qualify for this designation, vendors must have at least one product that Gartner’s research analysts designate as relevant to the market category, must have 50 or more published customer reviews within the 12-month submission period, and an average overall rating of 4.2 or more.
Cohesity’s rating from 222 verified reviews averaged 4.8 stars, the highest for any vendor considered for this designation, as of November 16. One senior systems manager at a finance company wrote that Cohesity provided the needed data protection capabilities while also “enhancing our data protection strategy by reducing our RPO/RTO, eliminating backup software silos and [getting] rid of our tape archive process.”
A network security/infrastructure manager in education stated that after using Cohesity’s backup solution, the “backup window fell from about 22+ hours to less than three.” And a network/systems administrator in government commented that with Cohesity, “backups just happen” and “as a bonus, you can use it for secondary storage.”
