Fancy a career as a trainer in wireless security?
The first courses in Australia reflecting the recently ratified standards for wireless professionals will get under way in November following the appointment of SpectroTech as the providers of the Certified Wireless Network Professional program.
Mark Morgan, founder of the company, was previously frequency manager for more than three years in the Australian Army from which he resigned in 2001 and studied the CWNP program in the US in 2002.
He said he has been waiting for the ratification of standards before presenting the first program here.
Courses will run in January, February and at the Australian Wireless Summit in March at the Sydney convention Centre, he said. Ultimately, the CWNP certification, while different to the Cisco certification, has similar standing and qualifies its holder as a wireless expert. He said the first train the trainer course will run in November and is open to people with an extensive background in wireless and security technology.
The CWNP program covers three levels, Certified Wireless Network Administrator, then Certified Wireless Security Professional, Certified Wireless Analysis Professional and the final step is the Certified Wireless Network Expert which, according to Morgan, covers the most advanced skills in today's wireless LAN market.
The first of the courses will be offered at around $2000 per subject, a reduction on the regular fee which is around $2500, Morgan said.
Initially, Morgan will be teaching the CWNP courses but plans to have others available as soon as possible to work with other course providers.
While SpectroTech is offering the programs, Morgan is also the sales agent for the CWNP program and is talking to a number of the traditional IT training providers and said he expects to release soon the names of other providers who will offer the courses.
