(ISC)2 appoints new head to expand security qualifications beyond US

Former ISF analyst takes up post

Security organisation (ISC)2 has appointed Adrian Davis as its new EMEA managing director to expand the body's work in developing certfication programmes within the region, it has been announced.

Most recently a principal analyst at the Information Security Forum (ISF), Davis's appointment is designed to complement the work of current EMEA head and, John Colley, who has pioneered the organisation's work outside of the US over some years.

While Davis will take over operational control of the London office, Colley will continue in his role as a builder of strategic relationships and as an advocate for (ISC)2's work to improve the certification of security professionals.

He was also keen to expand the (ISC)2 as a global body, he said.

"In information security circles, it can be very easy for people to look at (ISC)2 as an American organisation. They haven't recognised that over the last 10-15 years, (ISC)2 has grown to just over 15,000 members; and 29 community chapters in EMEA," said Davis.

"It is also the largest professional body for information security in the United Kingdom with over 4,500 members; and three chapters. All are British, French, Dutch, German, South African, EMEA-based professionals. Our current Chair of the Board of Directors for (ISC)2 worldwide is from Belgium."

In its 25th year, the (ISC)2 has doubled its events programme in the last two years, hosting 14 one-day conferences.

The organisation also recently announced two new certifications in healthcare and forensics, the HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) and the Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP).

"When I look at (ISC)2, now nearing the milestone of 100,000 members globally, I note the effect that (ISC)2 has already had on the proliferation of common concepts, knowledge and skills, and the pursuit of high standards of practice through certification.

"The opportunity now is for our professional community to have an even greater impact as the challenges become ever more complex and society faces the need to tackle them," said Davis.
