SYDNEY, Australia – 7 November 2008 – Frost & Sullivan has granted Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) the 2008 Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Leadership in the Australian Secure Content Management (SCM) market. The award recognises Symantec’s adoption of best practice standards in the industry as well as its diligence, commitment and innovative business strategies within Australia.

The award was presented at the Frost & Sullivan 2008 Australia Best Practices Awards in Sydney last night and forms part of Frost & Sullivan’s ICT research programme in Australia. Participants were judged according to their market position during Frost & Sullivan’s latest report on the SCM market. SCM encompasses solutions to protect against inbound threats such as malicious code and outbound threats such as sensitive and confidential data leaving an organisation.

Craig Scroggie, vice president and managing director, Symantec, Pacific region, said the award is a testament to the consistent efforts of the Australian team and Symantec’s strong performance in 2008.

“This award validates Symantec’s commitment to providing solutions that enable our customers to secure and manage their information and technology infrastructure, in greater depth, wherever information is stored or used,” said Scroggie. “From securing a customer’s online identity and interactions to protecting an organisation’s mission-critical data, Symantec offers security, backup and recovery, data availability and loss prevention solutions to large and small businesses across Australia.”

“Our approach to security and data protection is independent of the device, operating or hardware platform, or physical location, and gives customers a comprehensive way to protect against threats – to PCs to networks, and storage to online communications,” added Scroggie.

Symantec protects approximately half of the world’s information, bringing confidence to more people and organisations than any other software company. Combined with the Symantec Global Intelligence Network – a comprehensive security threat-sensing network – Symantec provides in-depth security that follows that information wherever it is.
