FalconStor Solutions for Microsoft SQL Server Enhance Backup and Recovery, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Capabilities in a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Environment

Sydney, Australia – July 22, 2005 - Continuing its efforts to support all Microsoft technology, FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, announced that its IPStor® Enterprise Edition software solution supports the soon to be released Microsoft SQL Server 2005. FalconStor’s IPStor solution, and the comprehensive range of software options available for SQL Server, minimise downtime, maximise availability, streamline storage administration and reduce associated costs, resulting in improved performance, availability, resource utilisation, and management in enterprise SQL Server environments.

SQL Server 2005, Microsoft’s next-generation data management and analysis software, will deliver increased scalability, availability, and security enhancements to enterprise data and analytical applications while making them easier to create, deploy, and manage. With its standard open architecture, FalconStor interoperates with SQL Server 2005 to provide customers with advanced storage virtualisation features, intelligent storage management capabilities and services to help ensure that their environments are highly available, better protected, and easily managed.

“Successful businesses rely on SQL Server to maintain a high level of enterprise data availability and run their critical applications on an advanced data storage management system,” said Don Petersen, Senior Product Manager for SQL Server at Microsoft Corp. “With the FalconStor solution, customers can experience an enhanced application and data availability as well as storage management capabilities, providing our mutual customers with a backup, restore, and recovery regime that helps protect their data against soft and hard errors.”

FalconStor’s IPStor offers rapid and reliable backup and recovery services via application-aware, client-based snapshot agent technology specifically developed for SQL Server. The IPStor snapshot agent for SQL Server 2005 minimises downtime with quick time-to-restore and ensures that active SQL Server databases are backed up with full transactional integrity and point-in-time consistency, even if the data is spread across multiple drives and locations.

“FalconStor fully recognises that enterprises dependent upon SQL Server databases require storage solutions that offer end-to-end data protection, since they cannot afford to lose precious operational uptime or valuable enterprise data,” said John Lallier, vice president of technology for FalconStor Software. “We are working closely with Microsoft to ensure seamless interoperability between IPStor and SQL Server 2005, so that customers can quickly recover from any hardware, software, or network failures, and maintain ongoing operations without downtime for non-stop data availability. The result is not just greater business continuity, but improved physical and human resource utilisation, enhanced application performance, and more efficient application and storage management.”

FalconStor has a consistent track record of working with Microsoft to help ensure interoperability between Microsoft and FalconStor solutions. FalconStor technology has already been tested as interoperable with and supports Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows Storage Server 2003, and Exchange Server 2003. FalconStor also embraces a host of other Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
