McAfee AVERT launches MyAVERT to help general public stay informed of the most current threats and vulnerabilities
- 15 February, 2005 13:39

Sydney, 15 February 2005 – McAfee today announced the launch of MyAVERT, a customised report portal providing up-to-date, complimentary security information for enterprises and consumers. By choosing reports from a Web-based service, users can create their own unique security portal, utilising McAfee MyAVERT content and interface options.

MyAVERT provides the public with a one-stop solution to security questions and information by aggregating and offering a wide array of security information in multiple languages. MyAVERT provides insight into the latest global, industry and local malicious threats so that organisations can respond proactively to emerging threats. Early-warning security content is accessible through the MyAVERT offering, while global statistics provide insight into real-time incidents.

Six different threat and research reports, currently available with the first version of MyAVERT, provide in-depth analysis and an overview of the latest security landscape. The program is updated seamlessly to keep users informed of breaking news.

In future versions of MyAVERT users will be able to analyse and compare data delivered by numerous leading security vendors and scan databases for ongoing media coverage. Much of this data is available today on the MyAVERT home page. The ability to evaluate and respond effectively to changes in the global threat landscape allows enterprises to demonstrate compliance with effective security management practices and standards.

"McAfee AVERT is committed to supporting global security education by providing the public with an informative and easy to use security tool," said Allan Bell, McAfee APAC marketing director. "Security has come to the forefront in the mind-set of both consumers and businesses, and we're pleased to be doing our part to help the public learn and react more rapidly to these types of threats."

MyAVERT will be available in late March of 2005 and can be used by both existing McAfee customers, as well as the general public. The MyAVERT home page is located at http://myavert.avertlabs.com/myavert/default.aspx?index=1 and will be the launch page for building reports when the service goes live. Those looking to utilise the service should check back to the site periodically for information on the exact launch date of the complimentary customisable reporting program.
