SIIA nominates FileMaker database software as Best Database Management Solution and Best Systems Management Solution

FileMaker, Inc. today announced that both FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Server 9 have been honoured as finalists for the Codies, the premiere annual software industry awards. Codie finalists and winners are selected by members of the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA).

FileMaker Pro 9, chosen as a finalist in the Best Database Management Solution category, is the best-selling easy-to-use database software for Windows, Mac and the Web. An amazing variety of customers rely on FileMaker Pro to manage people, projects, assets and more.

A fast, reliable, easy-to-manage server software application for teams of FileMaker Pro users and web developers, FileMaker Server 9 is a finalist in the Best Systems Management Solution category. FileMaker Server 9 offers one-click integration with the Web using PHP and a simple 20-minute-or-less install time (for basic installations), plus the most significant redesign of the server interface ever. Other major new features include PHP Custom Web Publishing (CWP) for creating dynamic data-driven web sites, shared access to live data from external SQL sources and a web-delivered server console.

“Competition is tough this year and that makes selection as a Codie finalist a real achievement,” said SIIA president Ken Wasch. “All the companies on this year’s list should feel justifiably proud of their recognition.”

Over 250 judges from the trade press, the consulting, education, and IT fields, and other knowledgeable, but neutral, experts have reviewed all of the products entered. The finalists were chosen from more than 1,000 nominations submitted by over 600 companies. The 2008 Codie awards will be presented at a gala event on 20 May at the historic Palace Hotel in San Francisco, Calif.
