SafeGuard Enterprise by Utimaco awarded FIPS certification, EAL and DSD assessment to follow

 • 07 December, 2007 06:19

Utimaco’s SafeGuard Enterprise has been awarded the FIPS 140-2 Level 1 security certificate by the US Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST).

By obtaining FIPS certification, SafeGuard Enterprise has demonstrated that it can meet the world's most stringent security standards and fulfil the critical prerequisites required by US government bodies when they select encryption technologies.

FIPS certification is also an important criterion in the decision-making process for many international government bodies, such as NATO, and numerous multinational groups, particularly in the financial sector.

The cross-platform security suite for 360-degree data protection integrates multiple functions including flexible policy management for hard disk encryption and removable media, support of additional smart card readers, smart cards and USB devices such as the Aladdin eToken.

“This data security suite is designed for mid-sized to large corporations needing to store and process their data across multiple platforms and secure their corporate confidential information wherever it resides – at rest, in motion or in use,” said Simon Coffey, Technical Services Manager of COMPUTERLINKS in Australia. “With FIPS certification SafeGuard Enterprise customers know they are protected from data theft - even if their mobile devices are lost or stolen - to the very highest degree”.

Following its FIPS certification, SafeGuard Enterprise is now in the process of being certified to Common Criteria EAL3, with EAL4 to follow along with assessment for inclusion on the Australian DSD Evaluated Product List (EPL).

The DSD is Australia's national authority for signals intelligence and information security. The Evaluated Products List requires products to pass rigorous assessment criteria and provides Australian and New Zealand government consumers with a selection of products that will provide an appropriate level of information security for their classified data.

Utimaco products are distributed in Australia by COMPUTERLINKS, a leading global distributor of IT security solutions.
