The Fight for ANZ Secure Content Management Dominance Intensifies, Says IDC

 • 06 August, 2007 16:57

NORTH SYDNEY, 6th August 2007 – The Secure Content Management (SCM) software market is currently dominated by a small number of vendors, with Symantec as the dominant player in terms of market share. The main players fighting against Symantec for a piece of the ANZ market include; CA, McAfee, Sophos and Trend Micro. However, in 2006-2007 Microsoft entered the SCM market with offerings targeting both consumer and enterprise customers.

Microsoft's entrance has definitely created a stir in the market, putting pressure on price and driving traditional vendors to add functionality to their security suites to differentiate themselves from Microsoft.

IDC's latest report, "Australia and New Zealand Secure Content Management Competitive Analysis, 2007," features a detailed competitive analysis of the leading Secure Content Management (SCM) software vendors in the ANZ market.

IDC’s report also features an analysis of Microsoft, a more recent entrant into the SCM market, and an evaluation of how Microsoft will compete with the more established vendors in the SCM market in ANZ. The study also features an IDC Leadership Grid evaluating the performance of the profiled SCM vendors in the ANZ market, and gives insights to the developments, trends, and challenges in this increasingly competitive market.

"To be successful in this challenging and highly competitive market, SCM vendors need to consistently improve and innovate their technology, business and go-to-market strategies, and partner relationships as well as address both the technology and business concerns of their customers," said, Patrik Bihammar, Senior Analyst, Security Solutions, IDC Australia.
