Specialist telco gotalk limited announced today that new shipments of their sell out phone stick - dubbed the world's smallest VoIP phone – will arrive in Australian retail stores on December 1, just in time for Christmas.
A small trial shipment of the VoIP memory stick sold out in a matter of days when it was released earlier this year.
“This sleek little multi functional, state of the art technology turns any PC or laptop with broadband access into a cheap telephone can be used anywhere in the world – and yet is so small it can slip into your pocket or purse,” gotalk CEO Steve Picton explained today.</p>
<p>At the time of registration, gotalk phone stick customers can choose the rate plan that best suits their calling needs. Low cost Australian mobile and international calling rates - Australia-wide 9.9c untimed, mobile calls 19.9c per minute plus Happy hour special - half price landline calls starting as low as 0.4c per minute - will be on offer via phone cards such as gotalk, Ozcall, Rate Saver, Daybreak, Shout, Price Buster, Boomerang and Talk Tomato.
“At just $49.95 we believe it will be a ‘Must Have’ tech toy this Christmas,” Mr. Picton said.</p>
<p>The gotalk phone stick is a USB memory stick with integrated voice over IP circuits and software. When plugged into a USB port, the phone stick software is automatically activated and a software phone appears on the screen ready to make a call.
The 128MB phone stick can also be used as file storage.
Australian owned gotalk limited, a $160 million a year full service company offers landline, mobile, internet and broadband services on its own network. The telco, which launched a consumer broadband voice (VoIP) service in August last year, will market the VoIP USB phone stick via major retailers and its 25,000 strong retailer and 7,000 phone card reseller distribution network.

<p>The phone stick will require an active gotalk broadband voice (VoIP) account in order to allow the customer to make calls using existing broadband internet connection.</p>
<p>Customer registers the phone stick on www.gotalk.com by selecting “Register” link and following a short sign-up process.</p>
<p>Registration step-by-step process is outlined in the product manual included in the phone stick box.</p>
<p>Customer will need to sign up to gotalk postpaid broadband voice (VoIP) service.</p>
<p>The phone stick is compatible with any gotalk postpaid plans ranging from go VoIP standard $9.95 plan and above.</p>
<p>New customer will be asked to provide credit card details during the registration.</p>
<p>Once online registration is completed, customer will receive a welcome email from gotalk containing account’s details.</p>
<p>The phone stick will auto-run once inserted into a computer with broadband internet connection. Customer will be asked to enter the account details when using the phone stick for the first time. Phone stick will automatically register each time customer re-connects it to any computer.
