<p>The new phone system which has been nicknamed “The Telstra Bypass Phone” is expected to be a big seller this Christmas – not only because it cuts long distance call costs and is simple to use but, retailers report, customers seem relieved “it doesn’t need to be connected to a computer or the internet.”</p>
<p>The first Ezichat cordless phone was released via major retailers such as Harvey Norman only in September this year and at $99.95 plus $20 call credit per base unit, quickly sold out leaving gotalk with backorders for several hundred units.</p>
<p>The phone, which sits in a rechargeable base unit, operates as a “normal” landline phone – “just charge it up, plug it in and dial” according to gotalk CEO Steve Picton.</p>
<p>“It would appear that this new mass market phone has caused something of a minor revolution in the telecommunication market” Mr. Picton said today.</p>
<p>“So much so that we have had to bring forward our planned second generation model, the ezichat sportsline in time for Christmas,” he said.</p>

• The $99.95 DT868 model - which comes with $20.00 calling credit bonus and
• The DT800 Small Business model ( which offers up to 5 additional handsets – compatible with the DT868 Base Station model only)</p>
