Fortinet wins enterprise security deal with Nintendo

SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 11, 2006. Fortinet – the pioneer and leading provider of multi-threat security solutions – today announced that Nintendo of America Inc., a leader in interactive entertainment, has purchased and will deploy Fortinet’s FortiGate™-5000 Series high-end multi-threat security systems and FortiGuard subscription services.

Nintendo will use the Fortinet platform to protect its Redmond, Washington, corporate headquarters, retail Nintendo World Store in New York City, and more than 1,000 in-office and remote employees.

Nintendo chose Fortinet’s security platform over competing solutions from other vendors, including Juniper Networks, based on the integration of key security functions – specifically, firewall, intrusion prevention (IPS), antivirus and web content filtering – along with the superior performance, scalability, and ease-of-management the systems provide.

“From a security perspective, we believe multiple tiers of protection are necessary,” explains Dave Tempero, IS business manager, Nintendo of America Inc. “We expect Fortinet’s FortiGate integrated security systems to allow us to consolidate as much of our security functionality as possible so administration is automatic and consistent.”

Comprehensive, Integrated Security Platform

Part of Fortinet’s FortiGate-5000 Series family of high-end multi-threat security solutions, the FortiGate-5140 modular chassis-based system and FortiGate-5001 and FortiGate-5003 security blades, work together to offer industry-leading scalability, performance, security and deployment flexibility.

All FortiGate systems deliver comprehensive network and content protection through the integration of eight essential security applications and services – including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, anti-spyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping. The systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet’s FortiGuard subscription services, which provide continuous updates to ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats — around the clock, and around the world.

“Thousands of enterprises like Nintendo rely on Fortinet’s FortiGate platform to solve their security challenges and reduce the complexity and cost associated with their network security deployments,” said Chris Andrews, Fortinet’s vice president of Americas. “True integration of key functions like AV, IPS and firewall enables superior security and maximizes resources. We are pleased to provide Nintendo with these benefits and more through our FortiGate-5000 Series systems.”
