In launching operations in the APAC region, Orbital Data announced the appointment of Ken Gong as regional manager for Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong. With more than 20 years of experience in the communications and information technology industry, Gong will be responsible for building the company's channel business in the region. Prior to joining Orbital Data, Gong served for more than eight years in a variety of capacities at Packeteer, including general manager for Greater China, and director of technical services for Asia-Pacific. He is one of the few early pioneers and experts in the APAC region in the fields of application traffic management, bandwidth management, application QoS and WAN optimization technologies. Prior to joining Packeteer, Gong served as pre-sales support manager for carrier business for North Asia at 3Com Corporation. Prior to that, he was technical manager for APAC at RAD Communications. Gong also held various technical and management positions in organizations in Canada, including the Vancouver Stock Exchange and Reuters Canada.
