Worksoft and Embarcadero® Technologies Partner to Offer Comprehensive Software Testing Solution

 • 23 August, 2005 11:03

Melbourne, Australia – 23 August, 2005 – Worksoft, Inc., the leading innovator of automated software quality solutions, today announced a partnership with Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:EMBT), a leading provider of data lifecycle management solutions, to jointly sell and promote a combined software testing solution.

The combination of Worksoft and Embarcadero testing products provides software developers with a complete platform for managing their software quality assurance programs. Under the terms of the agreement, Worksoft and Embarcadero Technologies will jointly sell and promote the Worksoft Certify test automation and Embarcadero Extreme Test load testing solutions.

"The combination of Worksoft and Embarcadero testing solutions address a critical need - ensuring that software applications are fully functional and meet real-world enterprise-class requirements for scalability and performance prior to deployment," said Mike Dager, chief executive officer, Worksoft, Inc. "The Worksoft Certify and Embarcadero Extreme Test solution can promote software quality while reducing time-to-market, to meet the requirements of today's fast-paced business environment."

"Worksoft has been very successful with their innovative approach to testing." said Raj Sabhlok, chief financial officer and senior vice president of corporate development, Embarcadero Technologies. "Matching their test automation solution with our goals-based load testing solution makes perfect sense. The Worksoft Certify and Embarcadero Extreme Test combination gives users a powerful toolset that allows them to deliver rock solid, bug free mission-critical applications that are ready to deploy at peak performance."

The prevalence of software bugs, or errors cost the U.S. economy an estimated $US59.5 billion annually, according to a study commissioned by the Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The study found that more than a third of these costs, or an estimated $US22.2 billion, could be eliminated by an improved testing infrastructure that enables earlier and more effective identification and removal of software defects.

Worksoft's Certify automated software test solution radically simplifies and accelerates software quality testing, to speed deployment of new applications and upgrades. Offering a point-and-click method of functional testing, Certify dramatically reduces the amount of technical skills required by traditional testing tools. Certify supports software documentation and automation in one easy step, eliminating coding and scripting and reducing the time and cost of test automation by 60 percent or more.

Embarcadero Extreme Test is a goals-based load testing solution for measuring and analysing enterprise application performance, offering a completely integrated test development and execution environment. With Extreme Test, development teams can quickly and accurately isolate system bottlenecks, and then make intelligent decisions concerning resource allocation, production readiness, and performance contingency planning. That means businesses save time and reduce costs by ensuring high levels of service and fully leveraging existing systems.
