Technology Leaders Strengthen Relationship to Provide Enterprises with End-to-End Management of Content

Sydney, Australia - July 22, 2005 – Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced an expanded relationship under which Sun Microsystems, Inc. will resell the Interwoven ECM platform for enterprise content and compliance customers. By combining Sun’s Java Enterprise System software, Sun Fire enterprise servers, and Sun StorEdge products with the Interwoven ECM platform, Sun’s Client Solutions Organisation can provide a complete, end-to-end system for governments, enterprises, and service providers.

By bringing together Sun's secure and reliable infrastructure and Interwoven's high performance ECM solutions, these market leading companies will provide enterprises with end-to-end management of content including: enterprise content and records management; secure storage and archiving; identity management; and business process compliance. With a shared technology vision, including the adoption of Java Enterprise Edition and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), the two companies will help empower enterprises to drive positive IT change and deploy content-based applications within their organizations through an integrated, standards and services-based infrastructure, resulting in more rapid return on investment and lower total cost of ownership.

Today, organisations need processes and technologies for managing content throughout the entire information lifecycle efficiently and effectively. Interwoven and Sun Microsystems will help enable customers to align their IT infrastructure—including secure identity management, intranet and extranet portals, robust servers, scalable storage and content management—with business process objectives to monetise digital assets, reduce costs by increasing content efficiencies, and meet business and regulatory compliance requirements.

“Sun and Interwoven already share a strong customer base and Sun looks forward to servicing these customers better and further developing our joint businesses,” said Chris Wood, CTO Data Management Practice, Sun Microsystems. “Working with Interwoven enables Sun to offer an end-to-end solution which includes the data management aspects as well as the provisioning and delivery of content services through integration with identity management storage solutions optimised for cost effective long term records retention and portal services.”

The two companies will engage in joint sales and marketing activities to provide the most complete solutions that seamlessly integrate Interwoven ECM software with Sun’s Java enterprise software, server and storage products. The tight integration will result in complete solutions to be announced that enterprises can easily deploy for the end-to-end management of content throughout its lifecycle, with seamless customer support.

“Customers continue to seek end-to-end products and solutions to manage the entire content lifecycle, and together with Sun, we are addressing this critical need,” said Steve Pattison, vice president, strategic alliances at Interwoven. “Our reseller agreement with Sun is further extension of our successful technology partnership, and shared commitment to providing customers with complete easy-to-deploy solutions that will enable them to truly maximise the value of their enterprise content throughout every stage.”
