SAS signs technology deal with AXA Australia

<p>February 17, 2004: SAS, the leader in business intelligence systems, today announced the signing of a deal to provide insurance and financial services giant AXA Australia with SAS’ Advanced Supply Chain Analytics technology.</p>
<p>The financial size of the deal has not been disclosed.</p>
<p>The implementation deal is one of the first of its kind to be signed in the Asia Pacific region and will provide AXA with leading supply chain intelligence capabilities.</p>
<p>Gordon Clubb, Managing Director, SAS Australia and New Zealand, said the announcement represents one of the first major Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)** agreements in the Australian insurance and financial management sector.</p>
<p>Mr Clubb said the implementation would be undertaken by a joint SAS and AXA project team based in Melbourne.</p>
<p>“Globally, SAS provides a large number of SRM solutions, with customers such as ABB and Bayer being among the larger sites”, he said.</p>
<p>With these and other global clients, SAS has applied solutions encompassing Demand Planning, Supplier Relationship Management, Value Chain Analysis and Customer Intelligence.</p>
<p>According to Mr Alan Thomas, Supply Chain Intelligence Solutions Manager, SAS Australia &amp; New Zealand, the implementation will help AXA to drive down overall purchasing costs and assist in changing buying behaviour.</p>
<p>Mr Thomas said: “When implemented the SAS solution will give managers in AXA improved visibility of their spend. They will have a view across all purchasing including ERP, credit card and Billing files.</p>
<p>“The SAS modules to be implemented by AXA, SRM Spend Analysis and SRM Reporting, will assist AXA in managing its purchasing processes.</p>
<p>“These modules will allow AXA to perform multidimensional analysis of all purchasing expenditure. Data from all purchasing systems is collected to allow them to do analyses and find potential purchasing savings.”</p>
