Aruba Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in First Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure
June 25, 2012 – Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant in the inaugural version of Gartner Inc.’s new “Magic Quadrant for the Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure” report.
This marks the first time that Gartner has combined wireless and wired access infrastructure in one report. As the report notes, “Connectivity at the edge of an enterprise network is more than just a wired or wireless LAN infrastructure. Enterprises must choose infrastructure vendors that support network services, including security and management, and can integrate wired and wireless networking products.”
Vincent Chiappazzo, Managing Director, Aruba Networks Australia and New Zealand says, “This is a significant recognition of the value that Aruba brings to the enterprise – converging fixed, wireless and VPN access into a cost-effective and seamless unified access solution. It’s also a very strong validation of Aruba's rapid evolution from a best-in-class WLAN provider to unified network access innovator.”
Chiappazzo says that innovative features such as context awareness, security and BYOD provisioning and onboarding framework for any device make Aruba very competitive in the market.
In the new Magic Quadrant report, Gartner continues as it has previously, to evaluate vendors based on two criteria: completeness of vision and ability to execute. It includes a summary view of each vendor, as well as an assessment of vendor strengths and weaknesses.
Chiappazzo said this recognition is evidenced in the local market, with a host of customers in Australia and New Zealand utilising Aruba’s wireless offerings.
“Schools and universities are taking advantage of Aruba's solutions to deliver high-performance network access to multimedia applications for a highly mobile user base that is spread across campus environments. Hospitals are providing reliable network access with quality of service for critical communications to a diverse base of users & devices - all from the one Aruba solution foundation. Retailers are optimising store and warehouse operations and increasingly engaging customers through mobile applications at point of sale. Government and financial institutions are taking advantage of highly secure Aruba deployments.”
Ben Gibson, Chief Marketing Officer, Aruba Networks, said, “We believe Aruba’s position in the Leaders quadrant of the new Gartner report demonstrates our successful development and execution of a unified access solution and strategy. We’ve seen significant customer traction for our Mobile Virtual Enterprise (MOVE) architecture, introduced just last year to deliver cost-effective, converged wired and wireless access, and our ClearPass solution, announced in February, to securely provision mobile devices on any enterprise network has already been met with a similar reception. We’re pleased that Gartner has acknowledged this vision, innovation, execution and customer success.”

Warning: Tips for secure mobile holiday shopping
I’m dating myself, but I remember when holiday shopping involved pouring through ads in the Sunday paper, placing actual phone calls from tethered land lines to research product stock and availability, and actually driving places to pick things up. Now, holiday shoppers can do all of that from a smartphone or tablet in a few seconds, but there are some security pitfalls to be aware of.
