Bridge Point achieves Crossbeam Accredited Service Partner (CASP)

Bridge Point Communications, a specialist network, compliance and information security company, today announced it has become a Crossbeam Accredited Service Partner (CASP).

Crossbeam Systems, Inc. is a provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks. Crossbeam Accredited Service Partners deliver an exceptionally high level of technical expertise and support.

Bridge Point has established itself as a leading IT services partner in the area of network security and has built strong methodologies for offering Crossbeam products in the Australian market since 2008.

Tim Smith, Director of Bridge Point Communications said, “Achieving Crossbeam’s ‘CASP Support’ status is a great acknowledgement by Crossbeam of the investment we have made and reaffirms our commitment to providing customers with the best network security solutions and technical expertise.

“We have invested heavily to attain the most highly skilled, highly qualified Crossbeam experts in Australia. This focus has enabled us to provide our customers with solutions to their business challenges including securing the public cloud and mobile network without compromising performance, and achieve the business benefits of moving to a next generation data centre including the ability to consolidate, scale, adapt and automate to maximise efficiencies and control operating expenses.

“As a CASP, Bridge Point is now able to provide initial Crossbeam support ‘around the clock’. If required, Bridge Point can escalate the call by logging a case directly with Crossbeam. This means that our customers can get even better support which is more aligned with their needs.”

In order to achieve the CASP ‘Support’ level, Bridge Point has to meet and maintain the following requirements set by Crossbeam:

• Deliver first response Level 1 and Level 2 support

• Maintain certified Crossbeam support engineers on staff

• Purchase X-Series equipment for customer problem reproduction

• Report monthly operational metrics

• Demonstrate full-time technical support capability

David Sykes, Regional Director – South East Asia and Pacific, Crossbeam Systems, said, “Bridge Point is a valued partner with a proven track record who understands how to help customers consolidate and optimise their security infrastructure to achieve business goals. Bridge Point has invested in Crossbeam by developing the right skills and dedicated resources, and that investment is the foundation of its success in the Australian market.”

Incident handling is a vast topic, but here are a few tips for you to consider in your incident response. I hope you never have to use them, but the odds are at some point you will and I hope being ready saves you pain (or your job!).

  1. Have an incident response plan.

  2. Pre-define your incident response team

  3. Define your approach: watch and learn or contain and recover.

  4. Pre-distribute call cards.

  5. Forensic and incident response data capture.

  6. Get your users on-side.

  7. Know how to report crimes and engage law enforcement.

  8. Practice makes perfect.

Warning: Tips for secure mobile holiday shopping

I’m dating myself, but I remember when holiday shopping involved pouring through ads in the Sunday paper, placing actual phone calls from tethered land lines to research product stock and availability, and actually driving places to pick things up. Now, holiday shoppers can do all of that from a smartphone or tablet in a few seconds, but there are some security pitfalls to be aware of.
