Jon Surmacz 26/06/2003 10:17:42

Among US broadband users, 86 per cent have confidential information stored on their computers, and 79 per cent use the Internet to send sensitive information, but two-thirds don’t have proper firewalls installed. Spyware (software that gathers information for outside sources, installed without the user’s knowledge) can be found on 91 per cent of broadband users’ machines, with 57 per cent of such software coming from music downloads. Most US broadband users (86 per cent) said they felt their computers were very or somewhat safe.
