Shifting the enterprise security mode: from incident reaction to agile

Last year a spate of hacking incidents highlighted just how unprepared many organisations are when it comes to preventing, and recovering from, external security breaches. But does security have to bethis way? With so much invested in on-premise and cloud security products and services, why aren’t IT and security professionals better prepared for incidents when they occur? In shifting the enterprise security mode: from incident reaction to agile, Telsyte research director Foad Fadaghi explores the challenges faced by today’s security-conscious IT managers who are prepared  to invest more in security, but have to deal with new threats – from mobile devices to cloud computing and social media. To move security from being a reactionary cost to a business enabler, security professionals must adopt agile practices by integrating data protection into the fabric of new technologies and services. Fadaghi will identify key trends in Australia’s IT security landscape and discuss methods to ensure enterprises are not leaving data protection behind in a rapidly changing, information-driven world.

Identity in an agile world

Organisations typically compromise some level of control over their systems, employees and processes to gain efficiency improvements. This results in teams having more access than in the past due to increased responsibilities and a closer working relationship with other teams. The ability to maintain, track and integrate identities and their activities across the IT environment is crucial to maintaining the level of security required to support the organisation through these changes. Explore the effects that rapidly evolving technology trends will have on the discipline of identity management; the intersection between enterprise identities and external identities; and the initiatives required to support the move towards cloud and mobility.

Navigating the risks in implementing Hybrid Cloud, Agile and Project Management methodologies

Ensuring the alignment between the various ‘best practice’ technology implementation methodologies supported by appropriate ongoing IT management and business engagement frameworks is key to the delivery of a robust, truly agile and cost effective IT environment. Achieving this without compromising security or exposing the organisation to greater risks is a given in the eyes of the business. In this presentation, Rob Livingstone will explore the key systemic and technical risks associated with the concurrent adoption and management of agile application development methodologies, project management, hybrid cloud, on-premise IT and mobile devices within the enterprise. He will also be suggesting some practical approaches that CIOs, CTOs, CSOs and CFOs should be taking to successfully orchestrate this transition.
