Reading List: iCloud story has a silver security lining

Apple news doesn't fall far from the tree, which makes it easy to round up some of the most prominent stories this Wednesday.

iCloud not compromised in Apple ID attack: Apple

Apple's responded to this week's reports of phones being held hostage via the Find My iPhone service; the company says this is not a case of its iCloud service being compromised. In its statement, Apple advises against using the same username and password on multiple services, not-so-subtly pointing the finger at security breaches on other sites for which customers may have doubled up on their credentials.

NTT DOCOMO & Apple to Offer iPad in Japan Starting on Tuesday, June 10

Though the iPhone has been on Japan's largest carrier, NTT DoCoMo, since last fall, the iPad will debut on the network on Tuesday, June 10. Pre-orders for both the LTE-enabled iPad Air and iPad mini will start on June 2 at DoCoMo's website.

Apple Includes The Entire iPad Lineup In Education Discounts

For the first time, Apple's offering education discounts on the iPad. The price breaks are on the modest side--$30 off the Air or $20 off the mini--but it still may help get the tablets into the hands of students and teachers who couldn't previously afford them. The first-generation iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad receive similar discounts.
