Cyber security challenge offers £10,000 bounties

Winners get funding to develop innovative cyber solutions

A new national cyber security challenge - Cyber 10K - has been launched, with £10,000 up for grabs for each of the most innovative security solutions.

Run by global information assurance firm NCC Group, the competition is open to both individuals and groups, and is looking to find solutions to the cyber security challenges affecting businesses and consumers today.

The competition is split up into categories, covering cloud security, cyber incident remediation, mobile and app security, consumer cyber awareness and cyber initiatives for resource constrained environments.

The winners of each category will receive £10,000 to develop the solution, along with expert guidance and advice from security veterans.

Entries will be judged by a panel consisting of Matt Warman, head of technology at The Daily Telegraph; Sadie Creese, director of the cyber security centre at University of Oxford; Robert Thompson, CESG; Tim Watson, director at University of Warwick's cyber security centre; and Paul Vlissidis, technical director at NCC Group.

Rob Cotton, CEO at NCC Group, said: "Through Cyber10K we want to solve issues in cyber security that both organisations and the public are facing.

"This is about stimulating creative thinking and encouraging an innovative approach to challenges that we as an industry have yet to overcome."

The deadline for entries is 24 April.
