Security B-Sides boosts numbers for London 2013 event

Over-subscribed event moves to bigger venue

The hugely popular Security B-Sides conference in London is to move to a larger venue in 2013 to cope with the expected demand for places, the organisers have announced.

The event will run on 24 April 2013 at Kensington & Chelsea Town Hall with a capacity of 500 places, up from last year's 350 ceiling. The launch event in 2011 was heavily over-subscribed with only 200 places up for grabs.

Unlike vendor-centric events such as the Infosecurity Show - which will run concurrently to B-Sides at Earl's Court One - B-Sides was founded in the US to act as interactive event for the wider security community, including individual security researchers.

The 2013 event will include the established mix of presentations by researchers and speakers with something to say on the security topic, as well as workshops.

Anyone interested in presenting at next year's event has until 5 January 2013 to submit a proposal on the event website.

"Security B-Sides is unique because it is driven by the information security community, for the information security community, and encourages lively and honest debate on the real issues affecting the information security industry today," said conference co-organiser, Mital Goel.

Those wishing to attend for free should watch the event's Twitter feed - @BSidesLondon - for news of ticket availability. A second round will be made available from 6 January 2013 on.
