IP Australia deploy Capabiliti LMS to deliver consultative learning model

 • 02 December, 2009 09:29

Intelledox Pty Ltd provides solution to automate and centralise learning and competency training

Canberra, Australia – Leading Australian software developer, Intelledox Pty Ltd today announced the successful deployment of the Capabiliti® Learning Management System (LMS) at IP Australia. IP Australia is the Australian Government Agency that administers patents, trademarks, designs and plant breeder's rights.

Following the development of an organisation-wide learning strategy in late 2007, IP Australia developed and implemented a centralised learning function, The Learning Centre, managed through the Human Resources area and based in the Canberra Central office. Also recognising the need for an effective Learning Management System (LMS), IP Australia purchased Capabiliti in March 2009. IP Australia recently completed full deployment, and has automated and centralised coordination and management of all corporate learning and development training activities throughout the organisation.

The Learning Centre has also moved to develop an organisational training needs analysis approach on an annual cycle. Since deploying Capabiliti, the Learning Centre can now effectively implement skills development programs that are strategically focussed and targeted to meet the charter of the organisation.

“With Capabiliti, we no longer have to manually process and coordinate individual learning plans, many of the administrative steps are now fully automated”, said Emma Deutrom, Director Learning Centre IP Australia. “This has freed us to do more strategic work in learning development, and allows us to focus on a consultative learning model; determine learning needs and find the best training outcome for our employees”, she said.

Now with Capabiliti, IP Australia Learning Centre staff can administer all courses and training types, whether delivered internally or externally from one central system. The Learning Centre has introduced e-Learning with an expanded range of off-the-shelf courses available to all employees, and established and published a training catalogue and forward 12 month training calendar. Capabiliti has enabled high levels of access and visibility of training options for all IP Australia employees.

Capabiliti also provides a robust financial reporting framework. IP Australia expect to implement this reporting over the next 12 months, so that costs can be associated with specific courses and training activities, and the Executive receive accurate reports of financial spending, evaluation, training uptake, and training history of all staff.

“IP Australia is another example of the progressive approach of the Australian Public Sector in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of learning and development activities”, said Phillip Williamson, CEO of Intelledox Pty Ltd. “We are particularly pleased to see IP Australia leverage the full potential of Capabiliti LMS to automate and centralise learning and competency management, and facilitate the growth and skill base of the organisation”, he continued.

About IP Australia
