WA's Empired signs multi million dollar IT services contract with Chinese owned Mining conglomerate MMG.

Empired Limited (ASX:EPD) – one of West Australia’s fastest growing IT services providers has accelerated its east coast expansion with the ASX Announcement today of a major multi million dollar contract with Melbourne based, Chinese owned, Minerals and Metals Group (MMG). In quick succession, Empired has also recently announced contracts worth a total of more than $5 million with the Victorian State Government’s Department for Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and another with Victoria’s St Barbara Mines Limited. MMG is the world’s second largest producer of zinc as well as a substantial producer of copper, lead, gold and silver. MMG is headquartered in Melbourne and owned by China Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals Co., Ltd, a division of China Minmetals Corporation. MMG operates the Century (North West Queensland), Golden Grove (West Australia), and Rosebery (Tasmania) mining operations in Australia and the Sepon gold and copper operation in Laos in South East Asia. According to the ASX Announcement, the contract is a three year term with two one year options to extend. Contract pricing is based on the size of the infrastructure and metrics around the quantum of services provided, “allowing the flexibility for services to be quickly increased to meet forecast growth across MMG’s international operations,” according to a delighted Empired Managing Director Russell Baskerville. Under this contract, Empired will provide a service desk and a range of other IT Managed Services such as desktop and change management. Mr. Baskerville, said in addition to the base contracted services, Empired will also provide project services relating to MMG’s IT systems and infrastructure. “Empired is currently executing a number of business critical projects for MMG relating to the implementation and migration of IT infrastructure and systems required to operate assets recently acquired through a major transaction with OZ Minerals Limited,” Mr. Baskerville added. • For further information please contact Russell Baskerville, Managing Director on 08 6454 9700, PR Terry Quinn WordsPLUS 0439 710 418 – or visit www.empired.com

ASX Announcement
Empired secures Managed IT Services Contract with Minerals and Metals Group (MMG)

Leading Australian IT services provider Empired Limited (ASX:EPD) today announced that it had secured a large contract to provide IT Managed Services to Australian based resource business, Minerals and Metals Group (MMG).

MMG is headquartered in Melbourne Victoria, where it owns and operates a portfolio of base metal mining operations, development projects and exploration fields across the globe.

The contract is a three year term with two one year options to extend. Contract pricing is based on the size of the infrastructure and metrics around the quantum of services provided, allowing the flexibility for services to be quickly increased to meet forecast growth across MMG’s international operations.

Under this contract, Empired will provide a service desk and a range of other IT Managed Services such as desktop and change management.

In addition to the base contracted services, Empired will also provide project services relating to MMG’s IT systems and infrastructure. Empired is currently executing a number of business critical projects for MMG relating to the implementation and migration of IT infrastructure and systems required to operate assets recently acquired through a major transaction with OZ Minerals Limited.

Empired is confident that the contract will provide additional upside through the growth of MMG’s core business internationally and the provision of additional discrete project services.

MMG General Manager Business Systems, Peter Dean commented “We are delighted to now be in a position to transition all group assets into a single service desk model. The service desk will drive common processes and procedures across the organisation for engagement of IT services. We expect this to improve service quality, consistency and efficiency to the business”

“Empired demonstrated a strong understanding of MMG’s operations and the flexibility to meet our business requirements in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.”

Empired Managing Director, Russell Baskerville said “I am extremely pleased that MMG recognised the business value Empired could deliver through our strong involvement in the resources sector and our flexible approach to service delivery”

“Empired’s disciplined engagement model is built around ensuring we understand our clients business, allowing Empired to focus on delivering services that will direct the highest level of value back to the organisation.”

“Securing this contract with MMG is testament to the investments made by Empired to ensure leading edge management tools, well trained and highly qualified people and embracing the ITIL governance framework”

“I am looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with MMG where we will strive to exceed our contracted obligations and ensure we continue to add value in all areas of our engagement”

This contract win follows a number of other multi-million dollar contracts recently secured by Empired in Victoria.

Commenting on this Mr Baskerville said “We have, for some time now outlined a strategy to grow Empired nationally. I am pleased to see that this investment and consistent commitment is now providing Empired with an opportunity to compete in a national market place that will ensure Empired continues to drive strong revenue growth and compete on larger longer contracts.”

“Our recent multi-million dollar win with the Department for Education and Early Childhood Development coupled with this new MMG contract will ensure we continue to grow our Victorian office rapidly and we are actively seeking to hire the best IT talent in the region.”

“These recent contracts also increase the level of recurring revenue that Empired generates through operating and maintaining core IT Infrastructure and Systems on behalf of its clients.”

“This continues to reduce the risk profile of Empired’s revenue streams and greatly enhances Empired’s prospects of sustaining our history of strong year on year revenue growth”

In closing Mr Baskerville commented “Empired is continuing to compete on a number of major IT Managed Services contracts and is expecting success over the coming year”
