Micro-Donations plans for iPhone

“Micro-fundings for a better world” is the motto of the new trend of Micro-Donations in the non-profit world. Small associations and non-profit entities are supported by companies selling applications in the Apple AppStore, leading to a positive flow of economical support to make our world better.

As it's happening in the micro-credit, the funding with small amounts of money allows the development of small size projects, that are usually excluded from traditional funding entities.
Official statistics shows that success in reduced dimension projects is much higher than in big projects, where a considerable part of the investment is lost in bureaucracy, structure management, and costs not directly connected with the pursued aim. On the other side, in small scale projects, the presence of active volunteers, the need of smaller fundings to implement actions, and the smaller amounts of money involved prevents potential temptations for improper money usage.

The trend of Micro-Donations in iPhone applications is recently begun by Zirak s.r.l., an italian company founded by professionals coming from environmental activism background that has been supporting in last 10 years several non-profit projects in Europe, Africa, South America and South Asia, both social and environmental.

From all the mobile software produced by Zirak, a 10% donation is given to social and environmental projects developed by small non-profit entities in the whole world. EasyTrails GPS, one of the best GPS applications for outdoor sports, specifically targets environmental projects.

Micro-donations support small projects that have a big impact in our world.

If we're dreaming alone, this remains a dream.
If we're dreaming together, our dream becomes a reality!”
