VMworld 2009, SAN FRANCISCO, CA - August 31st 2009 – Expand Networks,, the leader in optimising WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualisation, reinforces its relationship with VMware at VMworld 2009, which has helped Expand successfully deliver over one million applications to remote desktop users worldwide, cementing its position as the vendor with among the most comprehensive WAN Optimisation solutions for VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) environments. Delivering wide protocol coverage, Expand Networks’ unique ability to be deployed as part of the virtual infrastructure as well as accelerating all IP and UDP based-applications within VDI environments has led to the safeguarding and enhancing of thousands of virtualisation investments across the globe.

Since becoming a VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program member, Expand now offers advanced levels of VMware integration within its WAN optimisation solution and is fully committed to continuing this with support for future VMware releases. Expand’s Virtual Accelerator is deployed as a VM image that runs on the VMware ESX and VMware ESXi platforms. Integration with VMware vSphere™ 4 enables IT to take advantage of VMware’s advanced capabilities such as VMware VMotion™, VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) and VMware High Availability (HA), to dynamically deploy, manage, maintain and assure the performance of the Virtual Accelerator.

Efi Gatmor, CTO of Expand Networks, explains, “At Expand we are fully aligned with VMware and are able to offer a unique virtualised WAN optimisation solution. Our integrated technology, uniquely delivered in 3 form factors - as a virtual appliance (VACC), physical appliance (ACC) or as mobile client software (MACC), continues to evolve ahead of the market to help ensure we can add significant value to remote desktop application delivery with impressive performance and bandwidth optimisation, both now and into the future.”

Raj Mallempati, VMware Director, Product Marketing, Desktop Business Unit, VMware explains, “With Expand all application delivery can be optimised in a VMware View™ environment. By accelerating all virtualised desktops, applications and desktop delivery protocols managed by VMware View, across all environments, Expand’s technology enables longevity of customers’ virtualisation investments. This partner approach helps ensure customers can take advantage of the latest functionally while insulating and protecting their VMware investment. We are committed to helping ensure that our current and future customers are able to utilise the right underlying partner technologies to solve their technical and business challenges through our valued ecosystem.”

Expand will be demonstrating its advanced range of WAN optimisation solutions for virtualised infrastructures and VDI deployments on booth# 1840. The demo will replicate a typical virtualised environment incorporating its Virtual Accelerator at the datacentre, an Accelerator appliance at the remote office and Mobile Accelerator clients at the desktop, all accelerating RDP/VDI traffic. Additionally on Tuesday 1st September at 11.50am, Adam Davison, VP Corporate Sales and Marketing will be delivering a keynote address entitled ‘Enabling Virtual and Centralised Infrastructures over the WAN’.
