Dimension Data Achieves ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security Management Systems

Certification for services delivery framework provides Dimension Data managed services clients with greater levels of assurance.
 • 28 August, 2009 12:00

Dimension Data announced today that the company has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). The certification and audit process was conducted by SAI Global. This recognition demonstrates Dimension Data’s commitment to information security and certifies that the company’s Australian operations comprise the facilities, people, processes and systems to provide secure services to its managed services clients in accordance with the ISO 27001 standard.

Dimension Data now meets the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) requirements for a documented and implemented system that manages business risk associated with the loss or compromise of intellectual property. It also demonstrates that Dimension Data is capable of providing continuous service improvement to its clients, taking a risk-based approach to ensuring best delivery outcomes for clients.

More importantly, the ISO/IEC 27001 certification allowed Dimension Data to demonstrate that its quality and information security management systems were integrated at the foundation level and to use this as the basis for Dimension Data’s environmental management system, which will be deployed in Australia in October this year.

Ken Westwood, Dimension Data’s Chief Operating Officer said: “As part of being a great services organisation, the protection of intellectual property and information security is paramount. This achievement signifies our focus on our continuing evolution as a services business.”

“Every tender we respond to requires us to meet international quality management certification ISO 9001, which we’ve had in place for a decade now. Through the certification for ISO 27001 for ISMS, our clients can be confident that Dimension Data has the controls in place to protect their information in terms of confidentiality, integrity and availability –the three pillars of information security,” Mr Westwood said.

He added: “ISO/IEC 27001 delivers practical benefit for our clients, ensuring end-to-end quality management as well as information security across the core services we deliver.

The ISO/IEC 27001 certification certifies the “Support, Manage and Improve” components of Dimension Data’s Services Continuum, which is the company’s execution model for solution development, service delivery and service management.
