<p>SYDNEY, Australia – 15 June, 2009 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced market share leadership in both security and storage software in Asia Pacific and Japan, according to the IDC Asia/Pacific and Japan Semiannual Software Tracker H2 2008.</p>
<p>IDC reports that Symantec is the clear market share leader in key IDC storage software categories:</p>
<p>Data protection and recovery software, with a 30 per cent market share in 2008 as calculated by IDC, twice that of its next largest competitor
Storage infrastructure software, with a 26 per cent market share
Symantec also continues to lead the security software market with a 16 per cent share.</p>
