Digistore Solutions partners StorageQuest, Inc. for Centurion Dischub Workgroup

 • 26 May, 2009 09:49

MELBOURNE, Australia – Digistore Solutions, an internationally known supplier for data and information management products and solutions, introduced today StorageQuest Centurion DiscHub Manager ("SQCDHM"), a turnkey appliance that provides powerful optical volume management features to the Centurion DiscHub®. The new software product, SQCDHM developed by StorageQuest Inc. will be bundled with our Centurion DiscHub® to create the Centurion DiscHub Workgroup.

The new offering, Centurion DiscHub Workgroup features optical technology which can be used in intelligent data management operations. Companies installing SQCDHM will be able to reduce their storage costs of ownership and will also have access to a number of components for information lifecycle management and including other information management solutions. SQCDHM works by automating the storage and management of data on Centurion DiscHub® through the aggregation of media into a virtual storage pool which can be used to write and read data from CD, DVD and even Blu-ray media. Users and applications have transparent access to data through a single drive letter, regardless of the data's physical location. The Centurion DiscHub Workgroup supports full Microsoft networking protocols with permissions and sharing supported through standard Microsoft dialogs.

"The Centurion DiscHub Workgroup allows us to address the critical aspects of data storage and retrieval in today's data-intensive business environment," said Victor Foo, Chief Executive Officer for Digistore Solutions. "The Centurion DiscHub Workgroup adds a Terabyte of data storage with ideal storage traits - speed, reliability and capacity. StorageQuest's SQCDHM software provides streamlined, dependable data management. The system is fast, flexible, and scalable. Working together, we have produced a solution that meet customer requirements for secure and long-term archival storage for their business digital assets."

"The combination of the Centurion DiscHub® with the StorageQuest Centurion DiscHub Manager will create an fully loaded 100 slot capacity near-line DVD optical library solution in the neighborhood of $3,500.00 USD. A comparable solution typically costs many times more for similar features and specifications. We anticipate a great deal of demand for this new bundle. The bundle can be utilized by virtually anyone from home user to large businesses," said Marwan Zayed, President and Chief Executive Officer for StorageQuest Inc.

"This is a very easy but powerful optical library management product. The virtual drive created by our software looks and acts just like a traditional hard drive so most third party applications can read and write to our system without even knowing that files and folders are being written out to permanent optical media. Our sophisticated write cache allows many applications and users to read and write in parallel to the system. A feature typically found only in expensive high-end enterprise applications," said Brendan Lelieveld-Amiro, Head of Development for StorageQuest Inc. "The offline media tracking feature is also incredibly easy to use. Each disc exported from the Centurion DiscHub® is tracked by the software. The complete file and folder structure is fully browseable within the drive letter. If an user attempts to access the contents of a file the administrator will be notified."

"We at StorageQuest are strong believers of Optical Technology as a very sound medium for long term archiving, compliance with all accepted regulatory i.e. Sarbanes Oxley, HIPPA and DICOM. In our view the product roadmap of 120 mm optical medium is gaining momentum every day in the professional and enterprise area. StorageQuest approach insures that all media is portable. StorageQuest offers unlimited offline media tracking as a standard feature," added Marwan Zayed.

The Centurion DiscHub Workgroup will be available through our global distribution arm, Digistore Solutions International Pty Ltd ("DSSI") from June 1st, 2009.
