Postbak, Australia’s new innovative lost and found service, has successfully recovered 75% of its clients’ lost mobile phones at Australia’s largest ICT event

(Sydney, Australia – May 11, 2004) – Postbak, Australia’s innovative national lost and found service announced today that it has successfully recovered 75% of its clients’ lost mobile phones at CeBIT, Australia’s largest Information & Communications Technology (ICT) event for the business marketplace. Over the three-day event, a number of Postbak clients attending and involved in the CeBIT Australia event had reported losing their mobile phones within and around the Sydney Exhibition Centre. “Within hours after losing his mobile, a client of ours contacted us to report it. Later that same day we received a call from an exhibitor at CeBIT to advise us that they had found the phone, and within just a few short hours, we had the lost mobile back in our client’s hands,” said Russ Supplee, Postbak director. “Our client didn't have to cancel his mobile service, which saved them a considerable amount of time, effort and money,” added Supplee.

The finders of lost items are motivated to return the lost mobiles because Postbak's system is simple, convenient, confidential, cost-free and offers them a reward. All they have to do is provide Postbak the label ID number and Postbak arranges for a Messenger Post courier pickup. Finders don't have to try and find the owner, pack a box, or pay for shipping. Once the lost item is returned to the owner, they receive Postbak's standard reward, $39 worth of Postbak labels, plus any cash reward that the owner of the possession has offered.

“The process was smooth and quick,” said Jim Linn, one of the finders. Each Postbak security label has a unique ID number linking the portable item to the owner. Owners register with Postbak online or via a toll-free number. Registration is free; there are no additional fees unless a registered item is lost. If Postbak recovers an item, the owner is responsible only for shipping and handling.

Russell Supplee, Postbak director, is available for media interviews. About Postbak Pty Ltd Postbak is Australia’s innovative national lost and found service.
